I first met Tom when I went for drinks with the LD team at Aldgate. It was about 2010. I didnt know any of that lot very well so it was sort of an introduction really. I cant remember who I was with. Tom had a suit on but looked more like an artist than a corporate bloke. It was a very sunny afternoon in one of those city pubs that were round Aldgate area. We all sat round a big table supping pints and wotnot. I was quite fascinated by Tom tbh. He seemed more like people I knew in my own crowd of dodgy artists and underground crusties than an academic. I didnt say too much on those days as I was new to this academic lark. So that meant Tom was just the right sort of person for me to meet. I cant remember much else (though I did get asked out on a date by some other guy who was there!) but wanted to say - how often do you meet someone for the first time and vividly recall in your minds eye what that day was like and how you saw this person? It's not very often is it?
